7 Star Apeiron Island Hotel in Dubai

7 start apeiron island hotel
This is Dubai’s US $350 million project, it’s the hi-tech and futuristic 7 star Apeiron Island Hotel.
This is one of the most impressive futuristic luxury hotels I have ever seen, I am not sure how much it will end up costing to stay their but do not expect cheap in the price.  The Dubai Apeiron island hotel is designed by Sybarite Architects and will feature an underwater restaurant, an art gallery, a spa, 438 suites and 28 floors.

The Apeiron Island will be 300m from the coast of Dubai and the top two floors of the hotel will even feature a temperature- controlled butterfly jungle with tropical species.
The name Apeiron comes from a cosmological theory developed by a Greek philosopher called Anaximander of Miletus who lived in the 6th century BC (610-546 BC). The theory goes something along the lines of the Apeiron being a vague indeterminate source without measure, from which everything in the universe originates, including bathtowels and bowls of fruit. As things die, they fade back into the Apeiron. So now you know where to find those missing socks. Apeiron (Απειρον using Greek characters) is an Ancient Greek word meaning something like “boundless”, “limitless”, or “infinity”.
Aperion (different spelling) is the name of a loudspeaker manufacturer in the USA – somewhat appropriate as the Apeiron Hotel could be seen as half a speaker cone if you squint your eyes a bit.

Hotels Get Affordable in London

Just when we’re having to rein in our hotel habit, we’re getting sorely tempted to start splurging again. A report in London’s Observer newspaper this week said that luxury hotels in the capital are feeling the pinch so much that they’re slashing their prices to below what the budget chains are offering.
They’re calling it the Copenhagen effect--named after the last recession that saw the top hotels in Denmark selling rooms for less than their three star neighbours. And they quote Andrew Pumphrey of discount website Late Rooms, as saying that five star hotels across Britain are “24 percent down on a year ago.”
Last week, the Observer did a price check on London hotels – and found that, at £102.50, the budget Travelodge in Covent Garden was trumped by the five star (and seriously swanky) Grange Holborn, which was selling double rooms for £86.25. Even the Waldorf was going for £129.
Has there been a better time to get stuck in? Not for a while, by the sounds of it. We’re putting our spare drinking money towards a night of linen-sheeted luxury from tonight.

Outing World Cup Hotels: Team USA

Team USA has always had a rough time in the non-American football world and this year's World Cup is no exception. Their first match takes place on June 12 against the Czech Republic and its going to be a tough one.
Which is why they will need the comforts of the Park Hyatt Hamburg. The luxury hotel has a spa, indoor pool and a fitness center in case the players want to work out off the field, as well as a restaurant and a bar to get in some drinking time. Additionally, the hotel takes up 8 floors atop of the Levante Haus, a German shopping center with stores and restaurants.
But unlike the hotel Team Brazil is staying in, the Park Hyatt does not offer long-term stay options. Perhaps no one expects there Team USA to go very far in the tourney either.
However, while they are there team hottie/striker Landon Donovan can do all the translating as he once did a stint on a German team a while back.

Insanely Beautiful Hotels Worth Traveling

10 Of The Best Boutique Hotels From Around The World
Originally, we had two ideas for this post: local places to stay and eco hotels around the world. We quickly realized however, that we’d be giving you the wrong advice by saying “stay at home.” It’s incredibly important to expand your horizons. Even worse would be to say, “check out these amazing eco hotels around the world.” I mean that just sends the wrong message – after all, you’d be hopping onto a plane. Much less hypocritical however, would be to explore some of the amazing places that are actually worth traveling for. Modern day living is often on a par with a rat run: non-stop work, cities that never sleep and people who are constantly on your back. Sometimes it’s important to just step back and to take a break

Another view of the beach

To show off the beach a little, today we're posting another photograph from Llandudno. The village of Llandudno boasts some of the most expensive property in South Africa.

As you can see, the houses are built on a slope. The streets wind in a seemingly unpredictable pattern amongst the houses, and access to the beach is quite tricky since there's only a very small parking area. This means that most visitors have to park quite high up the hill, away from the beach. Our visit was worth the walk though!

Mayan Palace Resorts

We own two weeks a year of a two-bedroom master suite with lock-off capability in Mayan Palace Resorts. Lock-off is ideal for two families whose kids could share the living room in the suite. These 5-star resorts are in any of five locations in Mexico (Acupulco, Puerto Vallarta, Neuvo Vallarta, and Puerto Penasco, and near Cancun). The suite is available any time of the year but certain weeks must be requested six months in advance (Christmas, New Years, Feburary and March). The suite does have a partial kitchen (stove top, small refridgerator and microwave). Maximum occupancy is 6. Suite bedroom has a king sized bed and bathroom while the lock-off bedroom has two queens and a private bathroom. The living room in the suite has two pull-out mattresses that are just off the floor. Mayan Palace website:

The Mayan Palace resorts are the most beautiful hotels in Mexico. They have the highest ratings of the hotel industry including RCI Gold Crown (there are only 500 Gold Crown resorts in the world), and Grand Tourism (which is higher than 5 stars). The crowd is older or young families. These resorts do not have great night life so don't go for that reason. All but Puerto Vallarta are out of town far enough to need a rental car if you want to leave the grounds. Prices are high at the resort but service is superb. We recommend cooking most meals in your room if you are on a budget.

Dating from the Edwardian era, the elegant Duke’s Hotel evokes an era of ladies and gentleman assembling for candlelit dining and an air of gentility very rare in this modern era.  Although luxe in every way, it is an underplayed and subtle emphasis on comfort, not glitz, an emphasis that has brought guests who return through the years.
